Fathers are a very influential and important part of the family. When present, they can help raise their child in the way they should go. When not present, they leave a hole that cannot be filled. When a father is often absent, the mother has to try and take on both roles, which is very difficult. Without getting into statistics, homes that include both father and mother lead to children with better upbringings and a better life once they have grown up and moved out.
Fathers are meant to lead the family and provide for their needs. They need to be a figure for the children to look up to and respect. Many fathers do not take this role seriously and opt out of being part of their child’s life. Today we will pray for fathers that they may be actively involved in their children’s upbringing. May they focus on the family and caring for his wife and children. May he seek to guide his family in the word and glorify God.
"Lord, today I pray for fathers. May you give them the strength and wisdom to lead their families. May you teach them how to bring up their children. May you guide them in their responsibilities. I pray that they may want to be active in the lives of their families and take that role seriously. We know that everything has a reason, and they were made fathers for a purpose. Help them fulfill that purpose in you. May they look to the word and guidance and not the world. May they understand the weight of their responsibility as fathers and heads of the home. May they willingly participate in their families lives and not just providers for their financial needs. I thank you that I can even bring this petition to you, and I pray these things in Jesus' name, amen."
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:4
