You look around, and it seems as if everyone is either getting married or getting engaged, and you wonder when it will be your turn. The sentiment is understandable; we have all been at a point where there was something we desired, and t looked to be nowhere in sight. It is not an easy thing to overcome.

Today we will pray for those who are not married, whether they were married before or not. I am sure those of us who are married can remember a time when we, too, were watching everyone around us get married and just hoped our day would come. Let us not forget the struggle we went through, and all the more, pray for those experiencing it now. May they continue to seek God first, knowing and trusting that he has what is best for them planned out. May they not become desperate and become unequally yoked.

“Lord God, today we come before you praying for those who are unmarried in the church. I pray that you grant them patience to continue to wait on you. May you grant them contentment while they wait. May they become involved in the matters of the church in ways the married and parents can’t. Allow them to trust in you and your plan for them. Let them not become discouraged but maintain their focus on the greater picture, glorifying you regardless of what stage in life they may. I ask that you guard their hearts from the temptations of the world. I pray these things in Jesus’ name, amen.”

“I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.”
