Families are a vital part of our communities and must be cherished and protected in this day and age. Many things are coming against our families, and we must uphold them in prayer.
We see a want to dismantle the nuclear family, that is, a home with both father and mother. The world wants to change what God had ordained to fit its image. We see this constantly, especially in America, where Christian values are frowned upon. We must protect our families from the world’s ideals and seek to honor God instead. May we be steadfast in prayer, bringing up our families in the word of God and not of the world. May we reflect God in our values and the upbringing of our children.
Additionally, may we display God’s purpose in a marriage showing how His intended will for a man and woman to become one is what is right and honorable. May parents be patient in the upbringing of the children. May God’s goodness be displayed in our interactions with one another. May we love each other and continue to grow spiritually.
"Lord God, we live in a time when all norms are being questioned. Where personal feelings trump reality, where the media and education system is attempting to raise and train our kids for us, may we take back the authority you gave us to care for our families. May we put our foot down when government and educational authorities try to step in and dictate how we should run our homes. Protect our homes. May we seek only to honor you, and thus everything else will fall into place. May we not be discouraged by what we see on TV, but take courage knowing you are in control of everything. We know that you will not abandon what you have called good. In Jesus' name, amen."
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:1-4
