In America, it would be rare for someone to be killed for their faith, but the same cannot be said for other countries. For example, in Nigeria, believers are killed for their faith. These believers, although running the risk of losing their lives, exemplify loving God more than our own lives and our families. Much of the news regarding the persecution of Christians is not covered in the media. You won’t hear about it in your local news. You may see a few reports on Facebook, but many of us will never know just how bad it is.
If you want to know more about the persecution of Christians around the globe, visit “The Voice of the Martyrs“ website here.
Today we will pray for our brothers and sisters in the faith who face prosecution worldwide. May they not lose heart and continue to trust in the Lord. May they be filled with joy that surpasses understanding that they continue to see God’s faithfulness regardless of the circumstances.
“Lord, I thank you for being faithful to us and loving and protecting us. I know you have predestined everything that is to happen, and although we may not understand, you have a purpose behind it. I pray for persecuted Christians around the world. May they not lose faith in you but be reminded that anything we face here on earth is minor compared to the glory that awaits us in heaven. I pray for their well-being and safety. I pray they continue to be bold in proclaiming the faith and that we, too, may be as bold as they are. We do not face the same kind of persecution and might shy away from sharing the truth, but I pray this not be the case. I pray we, too, will boldly profess our faith in Christ. I thank you and pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.”
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:10
