When 9/11 happened, I was too young to understand the gravity of the situation. I was in the first grade, and I knew that something big had happened and parents were picking their kids up from school early. As I waited for my mother to pick me up, I asked to see what had happened. One of the girls in my Spanish class told me, “the twins have fallen.” At that time, the only twins I was aware of were the Olsen twins, and I couldn’t understand why their fall would be such a big commotion. I later heard mention of a building and thought the Olsen twins fell from a building. I still didn’t understand what the big deal was.

When my mother finally picked me up (at my last period), I was glad to go home and watch SpongeBob SquarePants, but to my surprise, there was no SpongeBob on TV that day or the next few for that matter. I just kept seeing these buildings get crashed by a plane and crumble to the ground. I didn’t understand the severity of the situation until I was much older. Regardless of where we may live, there is evil in the world and leaders who would love to destroy other countries, not caring for the innocent lives that may be lost. May we pray that God continues to protect our nations.

“Lord, I thank you that nothing else as severe as 9/11 has occurred since. I pray you protect your children and the nations in which they reside. I ask that any evil plan by any dictating nation will be put to a stop. I pray you change the hearts and minds of these evil individuals. I am aware of how much evil exists in the world, and I ask that if it is your will, you may continue to keep us from it. I thank you for protecting us to this day and pray these things, in Jesus’ Holy name, amen.”

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
