A little over a year ago, I decided to leave a job I had been working at for over five years. Although I had learned much while there, the restriction being put in place regarding covid were more than I could bear. I had been unhappy working there for some time, and I was officially done last summer. I was ready to move on to a new beginning, and I did. But it’s not easy, at least, it wasn’t for me. I like consistency and routine, and leaving my job meant I needed to create new routines, meet new people, and build new friendships. I am grateful that God helped me through it all.
I know there are many struggling at their jobs, many who are mistreated, but there are also those who love what they do. Considering that we spend more time working than anything else (for the most part), we should constantly be in prayer for our jobs. Today, we pray for contentment, joy, energy, and discernment for those unsure if they should stay or go.
“Lord, I pray for all of those in the workforce, provide them the energy and wisdom to do their jobs. May they not become weary while doing a tedious task but work as if unto you. May all the work we do, be done as if you were our employer. May we find contentment in what we do. I pray you guys are in the way we should go, even if this means making a change and moving forward elsewhere. I pray that those who are searching for a job, may soon find it. I thank you for providing all our needs, and pray this is Jesus’ name, amen.”
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
